Though the show is better on average than its memetic status suggests, Goro in this episode is so extremely dumb that I felt my own brain cells evaporate.
Now's a good time to mention that the **two unaired episodes were most likely intended to follow this episode**, but with the show getting cancelled the studio must have decided that the "searching for parents" arc that started in #22 was never going to be resolved anyway, so these episodes were shelved to make way for a more tense and lore-heavy #24 and the climactic #25-26 double-header that ended up becoming the finale. Basically, they had five more or less finished episodes but only three available TV slots left.
Personally, I recommend watching the last part of the show in the order 23-**S1-S2**-24-25-26, but the official airing order is 23-24-25-26, with the unaired S1 and S2 debuting on a DVD release in the late 2000s and usually numbered as 27-28 for convenience. These releases will follow the official order, but just FYI.
