Orphan presents a new version of the 1990 shounen-ai OVA *Ryokunohara Labyrinth: Sparkling Phantom*. It centers on two boys, Imanishi Hiroki and Tokino Kanata, who have been best friends (and perhaps more) since childhood:

One day, Hiroki is struck by a truck and apparently killed, but he then gets up, unharmed, as his perplexed spirit looks on. His body has been possessed by Fare Ruu, an evil spirit (and a rather fetching one at that):

After several confusing turns in other dimensions, and a couple of musical montages for padding, all's well that ends well.
My involvement with this show dates back more than a decade, when the bad timing and grammar of the original fansub so enraged me that I made a personal resub. (P.S. I [don't do that](https://collectr.blogspot.com/2018/11/the-world-is-full-of-bad-fansubs.html) anymore, so don't ask.) This version uses a 3-disc laserdisc stack, ripped on the Domesday Duplicator, for the best possible video quality. FLAC audio. See [this blog entry](https://collectr.blogspot.com/2024/09/ryokunohara-labyrinth.html) for more details.
