So... I released 480p/720p versions of this back in 2020. What's new? Well, times and expectations have changed, and now 720p is seen as a useless crutch, so since I recently had to do 1080p upgrades to XY after I deleted our last complete copy of Puto's encodes (oops!), and since it turned out 3 episodes of DP were broken, I decided to go ahead and redo all of the HD episodes of DP and upgrade them to 1080p. Some of the source has also been improved.
Episodes 1-120 in this batch are the same as my previous releases, although some of the filenames have been adjusted slightly after some consultation. Only 121-193 have actually changed, although they _all_ have changed.
Something to note: I occasionally end up with broken encodes because I'm frequently encoding in very large batches (batches of over 100 episodes at a time are not uncommon) and I just don't have the time or the energy to go through everything with a fine-toothed comb. But for some reason, it ends up being sometimes 10 or more _years_ between the time I make a release and the time anyone notices anything wrong with it (this happened with an early original-series raw).
I tried to be a little more aggressive with source replacement, because the sources I have for the HD episodes can be rather problematic (for example, the WEBDLs are improperly inverse-telecined, resulting in some very choppy tilts, pans and zooms). Most of the endings have been replaced with TV rips; but that wasn't possible for 159-169 (long story) so a lot of painstaking editing had to be done and in some cases I was left with a choice of upscaling 480i source or leaving it choppy; similar problems affect some of the post-ED material. (I think that if I had BS-Japan footage for the entire series, most of this would be mitigated.) The main problem here was that apparently Disney had some deal for rearing - it never (apart from a couple eps) aired on Kids Station. As a result, I didn't have a source for the end-of-episode cards, and rebuilding sponsor cards to remove onscreen text would have been way too much of a pain.
The HD source, such as it is, should be at least _consistent_ - main episode source is the same as the dub encodes, Portuguese WEBDLs, except for episode 190 where there was a source issue with the dub so a TV rip was used instead, and the last two episodes which were effectively side stories and never aired outside Japan (to my knowledge).
A single-frame source problem was caught and corrected in 144; at some point I plan to release an erratum for the dub that also fixes this issue.
1080p Best Wishes will be coming eventually (the encoding process is already underway and I am reusing existing editing lists). There's not really any point for me to do anything past XY as there aren't any source issues (to my knowledge) in the WEBDLs for later seasons - so I'm not anticipating some big 25-year omnibus in Japanese like I did in English.
